Professional Scrum Developer .NET

May 16, 2012 - May 18, 2012 : 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM
@ St. Giles Hotel,  Makati City

What is PSD? The Professional Scrum Developer (PSD) program is the best way to jump-start a Scrum Development Team’s efficiency and productivity. Great software development using Scrum and today’s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools requires the seamless integration of the tool, a well-functioning team, and software development best practices. Professional Scrum Developer is the only course available that teaches how this is done. And now it’s in the Philippines, brought to you by Codelean.

Course Description

The Professional Scrum Developer .NET (PSD.NET) program trains, assesses, and certifies Scrum team members working on a specific technology platform. The program includes a three-day course, an online assessment, and an industry-recognized certification.

The Professional Scrum Developer courses teach students how to use modern software engineering practices to develop an increment of potentially shippable functionality using a specific technology. Students learn to do so within the Scrum framework, working as part of a self-organizing, cross-functional team to do iterative, incremental development. Classes are exercise-driven, with students working in teams to develop “done” increments from product backlog items. The class is three days long, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Course Agenda

The course will mainly cover the following topics: Scrum, tools, and practices.

Potential topic breakdown:

  • The Sprints – Timeboxing
  • Visual Studio Scrum – Visual Studio 2010 and Team Foundation Server 2010, mapping concepts
  • Case Study – Simulation
  • Hotfix – Brownfield legacy
  • Planning – Release vs. Sprint planning
  • Emergent Architecture – Architectural processes and tools
  • Test Driven Development – Continuous integration, TFB
  • Ship It – Acceptance criteria
  • Overcoming Dysfunctions – Scrum-butts and flaccid Scrum

Course Objective

The course guides teams on how to turn product requirements into potentially shippable increments of software using the Scrum framework, Visual Studio 2010, and modern software engineering practices.

The course is a technical training being delivered to teams of developers—not pairs and not individuals. Since this is an open class, you will be placed on a team with other attendees. The instructor will do his best to ensure that each team is cross-functional to tackle a case study—you may be required to try a new role, learn a new skill, or pair with somebody unfamiliar to you. This is just good Scrum!

Course Completion

Scrum will be experienced through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on exercises. Attendees will learn how to do Scrum correctly while being coached and critiqued by the instructor in different topics (e.g., form effective teams, explore legacy Brownfield architecture, create automated builds, plan releases and sprints).

Students who complete the course will be recognized in the industry as Professional Scrum Developers after taking the online assessment.

Audience

This three-day course is suitable for any member of the software development team (architect, programmer, database developer, tester, etc.) who has substantial Scrum knowledge through either experience or another Scrum course like CSM or CSPO. Entire teams are also encouraged to attend and experience the course and the sprint collaboration together.

Product Owners, ScrumMasters, and other stakeholders are welcome too. Everyone who attends will be expected to commit to work and pull their weight on a Scrum team.
