Codelean starts Refactoring Courses
Wednesday, December 09, 2009
Codelean Inc. recently started conducting seminars on Refactoring—the process of optimizing program code to make it easier to understand, maintain, and modify. The course commenced on November 14 and continues on the subsequent Saturdays. Attendees are computer application students from De La Salle University – College of Saint Benilde, the venue for the initial sessions.
Philip Laureano, Lead Developer at Codelean Inc., introduces the basics and intricacies of the course by discussing Code Smells—scenarios or cases where certain techniques can be used to shorten and organize the code, such as the existence of ELSE blocks and redundant code. Test cases are displayed on the projector, and the processes of eliminating the smells are demonstrated and explained.
Refactoring guarantees that programming code is clean and comprehensible. For companies, this ensures the reduction of: the overall cost of rewriting and developing code, the possible deployment of additional programmers, and the maintenance of a system during the course of its lifetime.
Experienced developers and IT executives are encouraged to register and be part of upcoming Refactoring seminars.
